Adopt A Literature (Free Papers and Books)
Scientific literature is a tool that should be used. We have extra copies of journals, papers, and books that are available for adoption.
The mission of Natural History Literature Rescue is to keep books, papers, and other paraphernalia out of the trash, but that doesn’t mean they must be locked away. When we have multiple (sometimes many multiple!) copies of a work that’s not associated with a collection, those can (should!) be made available to people who can use them.
Adoption simply means you’ll look after the literature and keep it out of the trash. You can use it, even write on it, as you see fit. Simply make arrangements to pass it on to another worker or send it back to us when you’re done with it. Multiple copies (classroom sets, etc.) can be adopted by single individuals.
How to get Literature:
1) Visit in Person: If you are in the Clemson, SC area, send Mike Ferro (spongymesophyll@gmail.com) an email and you can pick it up in person.
2) Mail: We can only mail material if we have donations to cover the cost of postage. If you want literature mailed to you, or want to help cover the cost of mailing for others, please make a donation equal to or greater than the cost to mail. A single small paper can be mailed for $5, but books and larger orders may be more expensive. For large adoptions, email first to get an estimate. NO INTERNATIONAL ORDERS, SORRY (but see 3 below).
3. Mike F. will attending the annual meetings of ECN and ESA this year, 6–11 November, in Columbus, Ohio. Mike can hand off large adoptions to anyone who’s driving to the meeting. Mike can also hand off adoptions to international participants who want material, or who are acting as intermediaries for others.
Email Mike Ferro (spongymesophyll@gmail.com) with your name, address, and list of desired literature.
